Thinking of building your own

squeeze page?  Follow the

instructions below.

All squeeze pages work pretty much the same. They consist of two page websites that encourage your visitors to add their names and e-mail addresses in exchange for an offer or bonus.

This in turn gets them into the next page (thank you page) where they receive their download or information that they opted in for.

All  good squeeze pages will have the following: a strong headline, a sub headline, some text, points with bullets, a graphic of your gift, a call to action, an autoresponder signup form, a privacy statement and link to a terms and conditions page.

How to create your own

squeeze page.

There a different ways to create a squeeze page. HTML editors like KompoZer and CoffeeCup are free and easy to use. Alternatively you could use a squeeze page template.

Just search the internet for free templates or go here. Or as a final option you can hire a professional copywriter and designer to create a professional page for you.

Below are what a good effective squeeze page will consist of. As a way to help you get some ideas…swipe squeeze pages that catch your attention and apply them to your own.

Squeeze page components.

1) Content

Your squeeze page content should be between 200 to 300 words. Although this might seem a lot it really is not. Take care to list the benefits of the products and elaborate on how this product will make life easier for the visitor.

2) Headlines

An attention getting headline makes your visitors want to read more. That is your prime objective. The more exciting the headline the more likely it will be that your visitors will read the whole content. A tip for writing a headline. Make sure that it is not too long. More than 20 words is long. Less than that is preferable.

3) List of benefits

It seems obvious to mention this. Do list the benefits that your visitors will receive if they sign up for the free gift. Your benefits could be considered a review of what the subscriber will receive or learn once he has signed up and received his free gift. Keep this to about six points otherwise the visitor might start doubting your honesty.

4) Picture of bonus

Show your visitor what they will be getting after they have subscribed to your mailing list. There are many different forms this free gift can take from an e-Book, video course, podcast e-learning modules or a report.

Some internet marketers might purchase a Private Label Right product. In this instance it is always advisable to ensure that you are allowed to give this away. Always adapt these products and create your own version. It’s worth the extra bit of work to start branding your products with your own graphics and adapted content.

5) Scarcity marketing

This is the part where you add in a time scarcity. Most people will be more inclined to take action if there is a time limit. You can point out that there are limited copies to give away or that there is a limited time available for sign-up before entries are closed.

6) Call to action

Make your call to action compelling. Spell out exactly what the visitor needs to do. Instruct them to fill in their name and email address. Do not expect them to know this.

7) Sign-up box

Don’t forget your sign-up box. After all this is why you are setting up a squeeze page. Your sign-up box must link into your autoresponder set up. You may use a company such as AWeber who offer a very reliable and easy to use service.

You may put your sign-up box in more than one position. Do make sure though that there is one visible to the visitor above the fold. Not everybody likes to scroll down the page. Make sure those people are able to sign-up straight away without having to read any of the content on the squeeze page.

8) Links

You should have links on the page linking to pages of similar content in your own site and to other sites. You don’t need hundreds of links but have about 6 to 8. Place these links at the bottom of the page so as not to distract your visitors and lead them off the page.

In any case if you have many visitors clicking away from your page without signing up you need to re-look at your offer and sales pitch.

These are just a few guidelines for compiling a squeeze page. If you have a high priced item that you wish to sell to your list at some time in the future, you might want to use a professional to compile your squeeze page. It all depends on whether you have the time and resources to experiment on your own.
