Twitter Makes Online Business Sense

My 2 cents on why Twitter makes good
online business sense…
Twitter was hacked the other day causing some disruptions and headaches for a lot of people. The joke was that people had to resort to communicating the old fashion way… through Facebook.
Jokes aside…Twitter is one of the hottest items on the internet.
If you are not familiar with Twitter by now, let me give you a brief introduction. The best way to describe Twitter is that it is a mini blog platform that only allows you to write a “Tweet” or post consisting of 140 characters. Within these 140 characters you can write about anything.
For this post, I would like to focus on what Twitter can do for your business. So if you are a new network/online marketer, Twitter could not have come at a better time for you.
Twitter is a free social networking site that has around 5 to 10 thousand new people joining each and every day. Not only does it connect people to people, it also connects businesses to people.
Twitter allows many business owners to promote and target their business to the very people they know who would be interested in what they got.
Now don’t run out there and immediately spam your business all over Twitter. Remember , it is a social networking site, so your goal is to connect with people first and then subtly pass on some of y0ur business information.
For clarification, your business information should not be blatantly about the business opportunity. Send out teasers that you think will draw the attention to your followers;
- a blog post you just wrote![]()
- a link to a free ebook you recommend
- a free offer
- motivational quotes
- latest updates on your particular industry
Do your best to mix up your messages so as to to not look like every other marketer online that are on Twitter for the quick sale.
Now in order to truly get some positive results with Twitter, you will need to apply some of these easy steps that I feel will get you started in the right direction.
Twitter Tips
1. Follow People that are in your niche
Duh!… no brainer, I know, but it is important that I mention this here. If your niche is baseball then follow people who are interested in baseball. Assuming that you already know who is leading the pack online in your niche, it would be wise to have them on your list.
Now mind you, some of the big guys may take awhile before they respond to your follow request, but constant tweeting and getting involved in twitter conversations will get you noticed.
2. Be selective on who is following you.
The quantity of followers is not what matters, it is the quality. Having the wrong followers will mean that your messages will be sent to deaf ears. Keep this in mind when you are building your list.
3. Tweet messages that add VALUE
The general rule in social networking is that if you provide content that adds value to the conversation you will get noticed. Meaningless tweets may turn off the audience that you are trying to get attention from, so it may behoove you to think it through before you tweet.
Remember what your ultimate goal is…building a following of people that will grow to trust you; making people more receptive to what you have to offer.
4. Stir up conversations
Look for hot current topics that relate to your niche. The juicier the better. It is human nature for people to respond to topics that piss them off or are controversial. This is a great way to to get noticed. I recommend you look at these Twitter tools and see if they will work for you.
5. Tweet different times in the day.
If you choose to use Twitter as a tool for your business, you need to know when your tweets will be most effective. Never assume that one of your tweets will get to all of your followers. You will have to experiment on your own and see what works.
A tool that may help you is called Tweet O’ Clock , a twitter app that helps you find out when it is best to tweet a twitter user. There are currently 8 different time zones you can choose from.
The site runs a check through a twitter users tweets and finds out when they tweet the most. Considering we live in different timezones, this twitter app can come in handy!
5. Twitter 101
Though I should have had this in the number 1 slot , I wanted to make sure you were serious before I direct you to another page. Learning the basics of Twitter will help you avoid some beginner pitfalls.
Enjoy and good luck!
Dedicated to your success!
