Willie Plasencia’s 25 random

things about himself.

For this post, I felt that I would open myself up to you by telling you 25 random facts about myself.

I am sure you have seen dozens of these around, but I felt that this would be a good opportunity for me to show you who is behind all of the blog posts on this site.

And away we go!….

1) I was a  middle child in my family and not once felt out of place. My father whipped all of our asses equally.

2) When I was younger I wanted to become the first Puerto Rican hockey player in the NHL.

3) I suck at math.

4) I was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. Once a year we would close off our street and have a neighborhood “block party”. Up until I was 13 years old I would tell people that we were having a  “black party”.

5) My aunt just celebrated her 50th year as being a Catholic nun.

6) I am a Twilight Zone junkie.

7) I have red-green color blindness.

I had a D.A. (duck’s ass) hair style when I was younger. Everybody thought I was Italian.

9) In 1999, I was the #1- 4.5 tennis player in Florida.

10) I broke my neck while practicing on a trampoline in college…the doctor said that my long neck saved me from becoming paralyzed.

11) I never had a fist fight in my life.

12) Since my family was the first Puerto Ricans to move onto the block, all of my friends use to call me “Little Poppy”.

13) When I was younger, I sometimes had to eat lettuce sandwiches because there would be nothing to eat around the house.

14) My real name is Wilfredo and yeah I am a jr.

15) I had the time of my life in high school. Believe it or not, my music teacher’s name was Mr. Stoner…I swear.

16) My favorite car is the Mercedes S550

17) Every time I  practiced my trumpet in the basement of my home in Brooklyn, my little dog King would howl… like he was imitating the sound of my horn . My buddy set up an  audition for David Letterman’s ” “Stupid Pet Tricks”. At the audition the little bastard choked!

18) The first time I ever played ice hockey was when I moved to Florida in “88″. Go figure…

19) My father makes the meanest Puerto Rican spaghetti. Yes there is such a thing.

20) The first part of my life I was a jock…now I am a computer geek and proud of it.

21) I am a Captain of a fire department here in South Florida. I love fire!

22) I am also a Registered Nurse…I usually tell my friends that I wear a skirt a couple times a week.

23) I absolutely must have steak sauce on my steak.

24) I am a die hard N.Y. JET fan!

25) Saving the best for last…I am very thankful for all I have. If I was to die tomorrow, I know in my heart that I have lived my  life to the fullest and was not afraid to dream.
