Commenting on the right blogs.

Part deux…

In one of my earlier posts, I wrote about a method that I use to generate some traffic to my blog.

A method that I still use today. In reviewing the post, I feel that I short changed you and did not go more into specifics.

My goal for you is to open up some channels of link love by using other people’s blogs. So as to assume you have read my previous post, consider this as an addendum to my previous post.

More tips to choosing the right blogs to

comment on.

1) Similarity in Interest

Comment on blogs that share your interest. Your blog does not have to be directly connected to the other blog. Just be more or less in the same ball park.

If you are, for instance, maintaining a body building blog, you don’t always have to restrict your comments on blogs that tackle the very same topics. Visit different blogs that has some relevance to your topic and add value that is coming from a body builders perspective.

A quick way to determine the nature of any blog is by checking out its blog description. If there is none, just browse through its content and see if you’re targeting the same keywords.

2) Popularity

Common sense will tell you that you obviously do not want to spend your time and your well written comment on a blog that has a small readership base. If you’re going to use comments to promote your blog, it’s better to post them at blogs that are equally popular or more so than yours.

You can use the blog’s page rankings to determine the popularity rating of other blogs and compare it with yours.

3) Likelihood of Reciprocity

Naturally, it’s best to concentrate your efforts on blogs whose owners are likely to reciprocate your action. Whether or not you’re the first to make contact, as long as the other party benefited from the comment you posted then it’s only good business for them to reciprocate.

To determine the chances of having comments left on your blog and link exchanges, try reading the previous entries in other blogs. Follow the links of those who posted comments on their blogs and see if the favor was returned. .

4) Similarity in Target Market

This part can be a little confusing , but when you read it, it will all make sense. Using the body building blog as an example, you would think that it would not make sense to leave a comment on a blog that pertains to pregnancy.

But, if you look deeper, a constructively written comment that explains how a woman can quickly bounce back after birth by performing certain  postpartum exercise  can easily connect the two blogs.

Blogs need not have the same interest in order to benefit from comment exchange. Two different blogs may have the same target market along with  the same geographical area.

If you can find a major connection between both of your target markets, beneficial comment exchange is very much possible, but only with careful planning.

First, you’ll need to think of a topic that could link your interests together. Just concentrate on your target market, and you’re sure to find one.

Of course, it’s not bad at all to leave a comment on someone else’s blog just because you want to.

If you have the time and the inclination then go ahead! You may or may not benefit from it, but you have left another mark in the blogosphere.

Dedicated to your success!

Hmm. I think I should do more of blog commenting. lol. What was the plugin you have that follows up with the people commenting on your blog? Or something like that. I think I’ve stumbled upon it once and downloaded that plugin. I just kinda lost it. haha. You should have included it here. :D
